Made for your project
There is nothing off-the-shelf about a bespoke Versailles floor.
We work with you, your designer or architect to establish the precise specification required for the room. Panel dimensions can be adapted to suit the proportions of the space, allowing the pattern to flow naturally through entrances, adjoining rooms, and architectural features.
We can produce panels in a range of carefully selected timbers, including European oak, reclaimed oak, and aged oak, with the character and grading selected to complement the individual project.
The result is a floor that feels as though it belongs to the building rather than simply having been installed in it.

The Versailles pattern
The traditional Versailles design is formed from a central geometric lattice surrounded by a timber frame, creating a strong architectural pattern across the floor.
Unlike conventional parquet, where individual blocks are laid directly onto the subfloor, Versailles panels are constructed as complete sections before installation. This allows the intricate geometry to be produced with exceptional accuracy while retaining the visual character and craftsmanship of traditional parquetry.
Panel layouts can be carefully planned around the architecture of the room, with borders, thresholds and feature areas incorporated into the overall design.

Exceptional timber, carefully selected
Timber is at the heart of every floor we make.
For oak Versailles panels, we carefully select boards for their colour, grain, figure, and natural character. Depending on the desired appearance, the timber can be specified from relatively clean and refined through to highly characterful, aged, or reclaimed material.
Natural variation is part of the beauty of a timber floor. Knots, grain movement, colour variation and subtle differences between individual boards ensure that every completed floor is unique.
For projects requiring an established, time-worn appearance, reclaimed or aged oak can provide an exceptional result — combining the proportions and craftsmanship of historic parquet with timber that already carries its own story.

Bespoke borders and detailing
A Versailles floor is often at its most impressive when the panel layout is considered as part of the architecture.
We can incorporate single, double, or multiple borders, with contrasting timber species or carefully selected tonal variations where appropriate.
Borders can be designed to follow the shape of the room, frame the central floor area, or define individual spaces within a larger open-plan interior.
We can also accommodate detailed thresholds, transitions, and architectural features so that the finished floor has a coherent, considered appearance throughout.

Traditional appearance. Modern performance.
Although the design is centuries old, our panels are manufactured to meet the demands of contemporary interiors.
Construction methods, timber selection and installation techniques are carefully considered to provide a stable, durable floor capable of performing in modern residential environments.
Where appropriate, panels can be manufactured as engineered constructions, providing greater dimensional stability than traditional solid timber while retaining the appearance and character of a genuine Versailles parquet floor.

Other parquet designs
We also hand-make other traditional geometric panels, including Chantilly, Basketweave, Double Breton Cross, amongst others.
